Hi Patel,

Manual release can also be thought of as "Informal Release".

There is the "Formal" Change management process that needs to involve several parties and is applied when an Item reaches a certain level of maturity (say production, pre-production etc.)

Before that you MAY want to let your desigers have some more flexibility. So for that you can let them use Manual Release. With this there is no review, no panel. Just the creator or owner or other approved person who can Manually release the Item.

You can manually Release an item more than once by creating a new revision and releasing it.

BUT as soon as you use a Formal Change management process like ECR, ECN, ECO, DCO then the Manual Release process is no longer able to be used on that Item.

From then on you HAVE to continue to use Formal Change management methods.

Basically the Manual Release is to give you more options.

You NEVER have to use it.

Cheers,

Brian.
