DEVELOPERS FORUM - Relationship Issue

Phil - Monday, January 18, 2010 3:31 PM:

I am somewhat confused on a simple concept regarding relationships. I understand that each Relationship consists of a RelationshipType item and an ItemType for the relationship. My question regards where do I look to remedy the following situation:

I have my own ItemType that has a relationship to the File ItemType.  The problem is, for certain users (restricted uses), they can pull up my items and see the File Relationship Tab...but the list is EMPTY!

I know for a fact there are supposed to be items under that tab, because I can see them when I log in as a more privileged user. So I know it has to be a permissions issue...I just don't know where to look.....

a) My ItemType

b) My RelationshipType item

c) Relationship ItemType

d)File ItemType

e)None of the above.

Thanks for your help in advance!!

Alright, I've done figured it out.

Apparently the Relationship ItemType (choice c) was the thorn in my side. What I had to do to get it working (it took some sleuthing on my part), was to add TOC access to the Relationship ItemType temporarily. After I had the items (the Relationship ItemType) listed on the TOC, I could then select them all and reset the Item Access.

This took me quite some hours to figure out....so I hope it helps someone! I think this was an issue because my source items had been getting created with a different set of permissions...and as far as I could tell there is no easy way to reset the Relationship ItemType permissions without adding them temporarily to the TOC.
