SUPPORT Q&A - Promote Item in LifeCycle with Multiple Transitions

Hi Everyone,

                       I created a Life Cycle Map and related to an Itemtype. I created Items/Data for that itemtype. When I select an item and Click Promote it shows the following error(all the items are in 1st state/Preliminary state).

My lifecycle has got 3 states. From state-1 to state-2 there are 3 transitions (all pointing to state-2). If there is single transition I can promote to next state without any issues. If there are multiple transitions I get the above error. There are no workflows attached to each state of lifecycle.What is going wrong? Are there any pre-requisites for multi- transition lifecycles?

How to get state of an item(using code)? Any help will be appreciated.
