DEVELOPERS FORUM - How do I start a workflow process?

Aldihu - Wednesday, October 20, 2010 6:28 AM:

Hello. I am trying to find out, how I can start a workflow process.

All I know I have to do is:

I attach a workflow map to an Item Type.

I  set the dafult flag.

Then I have to create a new instance of the item type, but how can I do that?

Hi Aldihu,

Let's use the PR (Problem Report) as a good example.

Open the Problem Report Item Type.

See the TOC Access Tab? Click on it. You can see that the PR is visibile to a Group Identity and in a TOC Category. This is the place in the Table Of Contents that the user can get to see/add/edit the PR items that are created.

See the Can Add Tab? Click on it. You can see that the PR can be created by members of a certain group. Either add another group or add yourself to the Identity listed. Then when you click on the Table of Contents (TOC) item that contains the PR you can right click on the PR and you will see an option to "Add PR". This is how you create a new PR.

The same is true for any other item type.

Since there is a workflow associated with the PR and it is set to Default then it will be started when the New PR item is saved.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Brian.
