Hi All,

Can somebody please describe the steps to import the Multi-Level BOM Tools add-on?

I am using Innovator Server(Version 9.0) and I have downloaded the Multi-Level BOM tool(build 2.0) from the website but have no clue how to deploy it.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks,

Ashu

Hi Ashu,

On the projects page of this website there is a tool called "Package Import" also know as the solutions upgrade tool.

Download and run it. It imports the packages (like Multi-level BOM tools) into your database.

Cheers,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Sorry to disturb you again..As guided by you, I am able to import the 'Multi Level BOM' package but and I am not able to use it.

Downloading the package makes available a 'Multi Level BOM Tools' tab on the 'Parts' form. Can you please let me know how this functionality can be used to represent Multi Level product structure and what are it's plausible advantages?

Thanks.

Ashu,

The Multi level BOM tools are largely a tool for viewing the BOM structure which is otherwise put together using the "Part BOM" tab of the Parts item type.

On the Part BOM tab you can create new "Relationships". By creating new relationships you build up a structure of the assembly one layer at a time.

You can also import a series of relationships using the Nash tool or the batch loader or write a custom method to import. Once the BOMs are added to each layer you will be able to see and navigate the tree structure using the Multi Level BOM tools.

This tool is not for creating a multi level BOM.

Read the Just Ask Innovator help for adding BOM information to the Parts.

Cheers,

Brian.

Brian,

That's exactly what i understood about the "Multi-Level BOM Tools" tab. So,I created a product/part hierarchy. In the 'BOM' tab, I am able to view the part that lies one level below in the BOM but I am not able to view the complete hierarchy in the 'Multi-Level BOM Tools' tab(I believe it should be visible there). Though the same complete hierarchy I am able to view in the 'Structure Browser'.

Ashu,

I'm not sure what might be happening. This is the sort of view I get in the Multi Level BOM Tools tab.

I haven't done anything extra/special in building the BOM structure.

Maybe post a couple of screen shots of the hierachy from the stucture browser and the BOM tabs so we can see if there is anything obvious.

Cheers,

Brian.

Hi Brian,

I am posting you folowing 2 screen shots:

1.) The "Multi-Level BOM Tools" view of a part which has a part attached below it which further has some more parts attached below it.

2.) The "Structure Browser" view of the same part

Both the views are from the same instance of Aras and for the same part. But as you can see, nothing is visible in the "Multi-Level BOM Tools" tab.

Am I missing some component/viewer to be installed?

Brian, There is one more query. Can you please let me know how can i use "BOM Compare" functionality?I am unable to find it in my instance of Aras. I s there some add-on which needs to be installed separately to avail that functionality?

Thanks,

Ashu

Ashu,

At this point I am guessing but would suggest re-loading the Multi Level BOM tools package. There is nothing else that you should have to do in order to make it work.

As far as the BOM Compare is concerned this feature is only available in the 9.1 new release of Innovator. You said you are working on 9.0 so you don't have it available.

Cheers,

Brian.
