Mixed Documents and search tool

HI,

We are in process to implemented Innovator and we plan to have Documents loaded (not attached to parts) and I'm worries about the way to separated them by family.

Is there some rules or which way should I classified them in order to ease the retrieval from the databased?

This is a very vague question, but here are some ideas on how to tag the documents for retrieval.

1. Create prefixes for the documents that allow you to search by family.  I have no idea what you mean by family so I'm pressed to suggest a structure.
2. Create a new property for the document item type that is a list of families so that you have to choose a valid family when you enter a document.  Just make sure you uncheck hidden and then you can use that new property as a search tool.

Thank you for the Hint.  I created a new property and modified the Document form as proposed, works as expected.
