Hi,
Is Admin the only one can access all files that were checked into Aras?
Once I make a revision to a file or document, would a normal user be able to see all histroies of files or only Admin is able to see old rev documents and files?
thanks in advance.

If you want to have the Files link visible to the users, Login as admin, go to ItemType File and in TOC Access, change the Identity from Administrators to "World". This should make the files link visible to all the users.dstephen - Wednesday, December 31, 2008 11:30 AM:
If you are talking about the Document ItemType that is in the standard Innovator Solutions, a user should be able to select a Document Item in the main window, Right Click on the Item to get the pop up menu and select "Revisions". The resulting pop up window displays all generations of the Document Item. The user can then double click to open the generation of the Document Item they want to review. This gets a little tedious when there are several generations but can work. Might be better to create a Report to show all generations and File names for the Document ItemType because I would argue that you don't want to be opening the old document items under most circumstances.
Open old generations of documents with caution because they are still subject to the permission model and old preliminary versions could be editted by mistake creating a new current generation. An example would be:
generations 1 & 2 are preliminary, rev A and generation 3 is released rev A. The user looks at generation 1, locks for edit and makes a change then "save, unlock and close" and you now have generation 4 that is preliminary and revision A. Generation 3, released rev A should be the currently released generation. Not a good CM practice.

In the Admin training class they told us specifically not to expose the file itemtype directly to users in the TOC...
