Where Used – to establish which BOMs an Item is listed
Where-Used is a standard function showing multi-level dependencies. Where-used will show all dependencies, including the Part-to-Part BOM relationship, as well as links to Documents, Tools, Customers, Projects, etc.

Document Reference – to establish in which Products and Documents a document is referenced

BOM Comparison – lists all the differences between 2 product BOMs
BOM Compare with graphical highlighting of changes is not a standard feature. It is a planned roadmap item for post version 9.0. A custom version can be implemented for a budget of 5-6 days.
Indented BOM – lists all the items at all levels in a BOM
Standard reports and UI show the indented BOM.
Costed BOM – lists all the items in a BOM and their costs
Standard reports show BOM with costs and rollups.
Change Management Timeline – time tracking for how long it takes to complete a change after it has been approved
The Workflow engine keeps timestamps of all activities for metrics and dashboards.
Part Status – reports of items that have not yet been approved, and BOM’s that still have unapproved parts on them

Custom Report Builder – tools to allow users to build their own types of reports relevant to their usage
Innovator has 2 reporting tools for customer developed reports. The first is a direct integration with Microsoft Sql Server Reporting Services, which allows drag-n-drop report layout and optional delivery as TIFF, PDF, Excel or HTML format. The second reporting tool is a fully integrated XML query and Style Sheet application. Customers can choose which reporting tool fits their needs and skills the best. Both are included for no charge in the downloaded Innovator system.
The out-of-the-box report writing capability shall have customizable formatting that is user configurable. Typical reports include: single and multi-level BOM, BOM compare, implementation, where used, commercial parts and part number.
Meets requirement. Aras Innovator includes both a built-in report generator and integration with Microsoft Reporting Services for report definition. Reporting requirements are also satisfied with "live" dialogs (data grids and links vs. static HTML reports). Live dialogs are included in the standard out-of-the-box solutions for BOM, multi-level BOM, Where-Used, BOM Compare, etc.
Does the solution include the tools needed to generate and customize reports internally, or does data need to be exported to an external report writer (i.e. Crystal Reports)?
Yes, Aras Innovator includes an embedded report design and execution tool. The standard solution also includes an integration to Microsoft Reporting Services. Your company can also choose to use 3rd party report tools, such as Crystal Report, but these are not required.
