APPLICATION - PRODUCT ENGINEERING - How to retrieve past BOM structure, say, one month ago?

tomvue - Thursday, February 18, 2010 2:48 PM:

This maybe a very basic question, but I couldn't find it in help file. Basically I would like to get an old BOM structure with a specific date, for instance, exactly one year ago. The BOM could be very complicated with many levels, and it is almost impossible to use revision history for this purpose because I am using "float" for item's lifecyle behavior. I was expecting Aras can use effectivity date to determine an old BOM structure, but I don't know how to do it.

This question is related to a past thread talking about "fix" vs. "float". I like Aras' flexible solution to meet everyone's need. It would be perfect if Aras can provide a BOM snapshot for any specific time.

Not sure if this gets you all the way to where you want to be but I think you are talking about Revisions of Assemblies at a certain date.

Find the assembly you are interested in and open in the "Part" form.

Select "Edit" "Revisions". This will bring up all of the revisions for the Assembly/Part. Find the one that corresponds to the date you are interested in and double click it. This will open the Part form as it was on the date of that revision including BOM and Document relationship information.

Cheers,

Brian.
