As shown in section 4, you may link to another Aras item, such as Part or Project, at the time of first creating the Aras Document. It is also possible to set or remove this item link after the initial creation using the commands in the Links section of the ribbon:
If there is already an existing link, its number and item type will be displayed, and you can click Remove Link to remove it. If there is no existing link, you can click Add Link to create one.
The advantage of creating the link during the initial creation of the Document is that you can drive the file name and Document number based on the linked item. If you create a link at a later time using Add Link, it does not affect the file name and Document number.
Even though the Office Connector only allows you to create one link from a Document to another item, Aras Innovator in general has no such limitation. From the Aras web client, you may link your Document to as many other items as you want, including different item types like Parts and Projects. Only the single link created from the Office Connector will be displayed in the ribbon.
