Aras Corporation Joins IBM's ISV Advantage Initiative for Small and Midsize Businesses

Aras Enables Enterprise Change Management in Multi-Site Manufacturing Environment

LAWRENCE, MASS. - March 23, 2004 - Aras Corporation, a provider of enterprise software applications, today announced that it has joined IBM's ISV Advantage Initiative bringing the benefits of real-time project portfolio coordination, engineering change, and manufacturing quality operations applications to small and medium sized businesses [SMBs]. IBM's ISV Advantage program is designed to provide select independent software vendors [ISVs] with technical and marketing support to help meet the specific needs of SMB customers.

With Aras software, customers deploy in 60 days or less, adapt easily, and scale rapidly. Aras software is built on a revolutionary next-generation model-based service oriented architecture providing lean and flexible applications that are created and modified without programming to deliver market leading Total Cost of Ownership [TCO]. Enabling Aras applications on IBM WebSphere Internet infrastructure software on Linux will help Aras expand into the SMB market faster and more effectively than possible with proprietary platforms.

"We recognize the extreme stress companies in supply chains are facing; pricing pressure, margin erosion, fierce competition, outsourcing complexities, regulatory compliance, as well as numerous other business challenges," said Rick Lucier, CEO of Aras Corporation. "By pursuing an open solution strategy with IBM we are providing companies with the flexibility they desire at a total cost of ownership they require. Being invited by IBM to join the ISV Advantage program further validates our unique offering to the market."

The IBM WebSphere family includes products that are designed and priced specifically for small and medium businesses -- easy to install and manage, scalable to grow with a business, rich in functionality, and based on open standards to allow integration with existing software and hardware platforms.

"Access to open-standards based software on which to build cost effective solutions is crucial to medium-sized businesses," said Buell Duncan, general manager, ISV & Developer Relations, IBM. "We are pleased that Aras has joined ISV Advantage, committing to IBM as a partner of choice, WebSphere and Linux to help meet the needs of small and medium sized manufacturers."

ISV Advantage is administered by PartnerWorld for Developers, the developer resource for IBM Business Partners. It is a worldwide program designed to help software developers reach broader markets, lower their costs of doing business, and take their products to market faster.
