Aras Provides Supply Chain and Quality Management for Fox Electronics

Leading Electronics Manufacturer Deploys Innovator Application Suite to Continuously Improve Quality and Reduce Costs

LAWRENCE, MASS. - December 16, 2002 - Aras Corporation, a provider of affordable, enterprise-class Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, announced today that Fox Electronics, a leading global provider of high reliability, precision frequency control products, has purchased and is in the process of deploying the supply chain module and will follow with the implementation of the quality management module of the Innovator Application Suite.

"With Innovator we will be able to manage our global supply chain more effectively," says Gene Trefethen, CEO of Fox Electronics. "Some of our larger customers require that we use certain suppliers. Until now we had to manually monitor the procurement process to ensure that the right vendors were used, which resulted in unnecessary costs and subjected the process to potential human error. Innovator enables us to specify the suppliers that are approved for use and limit purchases with certainty to only those vendors."

Innovator provides a single online location for managing the Approved Vendor List (AVL) on a part-by-part basis. For day-to-day purchase transactions Fox Electronics uses MAPICS Point.Man. Therefore, real-time integration has been established allowing Point.Man to follow the instructions provided by Innovator.

"Innovator's use of Web Services standards such as XML and SOAP make real- time integration fast and uncomplicated," notes Peter Schroer, CEO and Founder of Aras.

Innovator is also being integrated with Microsoft® Exchange 2000 to provide a single, online location within the company for managing the contact information of the many distributors and manufacturer's representatives in the Fox partner program.

To further support the partner program, improve customer satisfaction, and enhance revenue potential, Fox Electronics will use Innovator to control all product specifications and will serve them directly to the Web site from within the secure, universal document vault. In addition, the company is loading all ISO 9001 related policies and procedures thereby improving revision control while simplifying employee access and cutting overhead costs.

"The bottom line for Fox is that Innovator enables us to serve our customers better, improve our quality, and significantly reduce our costs all at the same time," explains Trefethen.
