At Aras, we believe companies can and should customize their PLM environment -- not once, but continuously. After all, continuous change is how companies stay healthy and viable.
The Aras framework combines a model-based approach with a software-oriented architecture (SOA) that completely separates the programs - in our case web services - from the object model. This separation allows for unlimited customization of the object model without changing the underlying framework programs at all.
The entire system definition is described in the model's XML templates. For persistent store the XML templates are normalized into tables and columns within the database. The complied code of the SOA web services, which defines the behaviors and actions available to the model, is .NET managed code.
The significance of this separation is profound.
Regardless of the amount of customization an Aras enterprise implementation has undergone, upgrades to new releases of the underlying Aras SOA technology are always straightforward and easy.
Aras stands behind this commitment with a fixed price subscription option that includes upgrade services along with access to new releases – major and minor – as well as a series of other benefits such as live hotline, online support, training and more. No other PLM vendor can commit to ongoing upgrades of unknown customizations like Aras can, because they do not have the technology to support a constantly changing environment.
