I'm trying to restrict access to File. I've set permissions to not allow Get/Discover but all files are still visible to anyone.
Any idea what's going on here? Setting the Team behaves the same, ie nothing is enforced.

RE: Restricting File Access - is it possible?

Solved, we were setting the property for our File through applySQL. This messes up the file locator. Doing this through AML instead works!

RE: Restricting File Access - is it possible?

I'm trying to restrict access on Files so they don't show up when using Get/Discover, as I described in the topic post. I've tried to use Permissions or Teams to do this, however the items still show up when doing a Get action, for instance. Most other ItemTypes honour these two methods of access control but apparantly not the File ItemType. :(

So yes, like you would want to stop a File from showing up in a Document through the Document File relationship.

It's unfortunate because that means a File can't contain anything important or sensitive. Unless this was fixed post SP6..

Thanks again for your time!

RE: Restricting File Access - is it possible?

I'm not sure I completely understand your use case.

Could you please clarify whether you are trying to restrict access to related files on an ItemType, like the files on a Document item? Or are you trying to restrict access to Files via the TOC?

RE: Restricting File Access - is it possible?

Hi Jillian,
