All you have to do is not to replace the button, but to remove the button. Most simple example: Just take a look at the ItemType InBasket Task. It does something similiar than my project. You just have to remeove the corresponding cui...mwt..save_as Element.

I found the Presentation Configurations and Client Style tab in ItemType ECO, but I do not know how to create a custom Presentation Configuration. Is there an example somewhere that I can learn from? Thank you

You can create a custom Presentation Configuration in Client Style that removes the Save As CUI button for the ItemType ECO.
