Looks pretty great! My original thinking was to see / duplicate the code in C#, but if I can drive whatever I need from a command line that might be better (that way I keep focus on results and don't go way down the rabbit hole).

I've got lots of data to migrate so I'll let you know how it goes in the coming days!

Batch Loader Download Location / Source Code

Where do I download the files for the batch loader?

In the past I ran it from the server itself but I don't have access to the server right now.

Can I just download the files and run it from my computer?

I can't seem to find any information, everything seems to assume you already have access to the application.

I'd also be interested in taking a look at the source code, if it is open source

Opened C:\ProgramData\Aras\ArasUpdate\MPP and attempted to manually extract 14.03.130, and extract fails:

Tested the archive for 14.03.130 with 7-Zip, and it is reported as not an archive:

Additionally, this issue was replicated on several systems, and I attempted to run Aras Update as Administrator.

Are there any other options for getting the archive? I am not a subscriber, so I do not have FTP access.

Thanks for the reply! I was able to get the files from MFT after working with the support team.

I'm interested in how it works because there seems to be the possibility of automating the entire process of migration from another system, for example reading / replicating the data structure from another system (using API) and then uploading any files / attachments as you iterate through it (using batch loader logic).

I don't have a specific use case yet, but at my last company we had a Jira migration that something like this could have solved...

Hi Bryan,

The batchloader connects to your Aras Instance via Oauth. Assuming your local machine can access your server you can run the Batch loader on your machine, and load data into your Innovator Server.

The files can be found in the CD Image corresponding with your Aras version. Subscribers should be able to access the CD image via the MFT site.

Unfortunately I don't believe the batch loader is open source. Is there a specific reason you're interested at looking under the hood?

HTTP Error 500.19 after installing Innovator 2025 - Solved

I recently installed the Community version of Aras Innovator on a windows 11 24H2 computer. Installation completed with no errors but when trying to browse to //localhost/InnovatorServer/Client I got an HTTP Error 500.10 ( it also referenced the web.config file but there was nothing wrong with it.

The solution was to download and install the MS .Net 8.0 Hosting bundle from

https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-aspnetcore-8.0.18-windows-hosting-bundle-installer

Once that was done and IIS restarted , the client responded properly.

There appears to be issues with the latest version of the Innovator Admin tool, I also saw the same issue. Downloading the prior version seemed to fix this issue for me:

Hi Abhijit,

As a simple solution, could you check to make sure in the Views tab of your ItemType that the Secure Social checkbox is enabled for all of your forms? If that doesn't resolve the issue, you'll likely need to configure how Innovator looks up which files to show in the PDF Viewer Sidebar.

You can do this via the Secure Social tab on the ItemType. You may be able to look at the CAD or Document ItemTypes as examples, but you'll need to add the following (this is assuming the file you are trying to see is accessible via a Property on the ItemType):

In the Secure Social tab of the ItemType, add a new DiscussionTemplate if one does not already exist
1. Set the File Selection Depth and Item Selection Depth to -1 for both
Open the DiscussionTemplate and add a new FeedTemplate if one does not already exist
1. Feed Type: Board
2. History Events: Add
3. Reference: this
Open the FeedTemplate, and add a new FileSelectorTemplate
1. Filter: This is a pipe separated list of File Type IDs. You can just copy the values used in CAD or Document.
2. Reference: Set this to the name of the Property that references the File on your ItemType (for CAD this is viewable_file)
3. Tooltip Template: You can also copy the value for this from CAD or Document
Back on the ItemType make sure you enable Secure Social on all of your forms in the Views tab.

After that, you should see your PDF visible in the PDF Viewer sidebar.

I tried submitting new form and got new link in email. Getting same error agin.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Innovator - what options do we have in 2025?

title already sums up the question. What options do we have for two-factor authentication in Innovator? I assume Innovator in an Azure cloud or similar can do it. But what options do we have for regular non-cloud instances?

I know that additional authentication modes are available for subscribers. But I am not much into this topic.
Does anyone know more?

Editing an item via REST API without item id. Can we specify a WHERE attribute?

Hi community,

I want to edit a custom item in Innovator via REST API. Typically the command looks like this:

PATCH {base url}/Part(’16AA95A80DEB4B56BD8BA9BC509EAF0C’)

My 2nd software that shall do the REST call doesn´t know the target item id. I only have the serial number (item_number) of the target item in Innovator.

For regular AML queries we can use the WHERE attribute to perform these kinds of edit operations.
Is something similar available in the REST API?

An alternative solution would be to do a regular GET request first to get the ID. Or maybe a custom Method that does the edit with a standard AML query.

Any ideas? What would you recommend?

What does the "isCriteria" attribute do?

what is the purpose of the "isCriteria" attribute? It´s described in the programmers guide like this:

"If 0 then include the nested structure for the Item configuration in the response but don't use it as search criteria. Default is 1, which uses the nested structure in the request as search criteria."

I tested the attribute with an AML query with relationships. I even tested original Aras queries that use the attribute. I never noticed any difference in the query result.

Does anyone know more?

The samples helped a lot, I see the difference in the result! There are a couple of attributes that are rarely needed, but when they are, they can significantly improve specific use cases.

"isCriteria" is definitely a niche attribute, but if I remember correctly I once solved something similar with logic ORs and a lot of try and error. Now I know better :).
