How to invoke conversion server on button click event?

As there is example of Conversion task for changing file format which is invoked automatically on file upload. Similarly we want to invoke our Conversion server task on button click. Is there any event defined on which we can invoke conversion server task directly.

Catch 'ItemCannotBeLockedException' when state=Released

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how and where to catch the Aras.Server.Core.ItemCannotBeLockedException exception so I can display a custom error message to the users. The executed AML is: <Item type="MyCustomDocument" id="123134234234" action="lock" />. I have implemented "OnBeforeLock()" on my custom ItemType, but this method isn't hit when the ItemType is in Released state. So the question is at which stage in code is the exception thrown and can I sort of catch it or handle it?

top.aras.applyMethod() blocking application UI

Hello,
I am using top.aras.applyMethod() in client side JavaScript code for calling C# server method. But it is blocking application UI till the time server method runs and returns result. And I am not able to use any other tabs, TOC, etc meanwhile. I want to know if there is any better way to call the server method from client side in JavaScript.

let methodBody = "<itemId>" + XXXXX + "</itemId>";
let results = top.aras.applyMethod(methodName, methodBody);
