Due to increasingly complex mechatronic or even cyber-physical systems, future products and their engineering are also becoming more and more complex. At the same time, development must take place in shorter cycles, while keeping up with advancing quality and compliance requirements. This requires a continuous flow of information, communication, and data in engineering. Product lifecycle management (PLM) and systems engineering (SE) are approaches to meet future requirements. So far, however, they have not been optimized in an integrated manner. In this context, PLM and SE are primarily being dealt with independently in terms of organization and IT. Bringing them together requires consideration of IT, as well as business processes, process-supporting methods, and the general set-up of the organization. It requires a modern approach to IT-architecture with open, scalable, and flexible IT solutions.
In this webinar, Aras’ Sr. Product Manager of Systems Engineering, Dr. Michael Pfenning, will be joined by Julian Tekaat and Rik Razor of Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design (IEM) to discuss the need for systems engineering and share best practices based Fraunhofer IEM’s 10 years of experience.
