As technology advances, so does the complexity of the products it produces. In the 1970s, a typically luxury car had around 2,000 parts in it and most were mechanical. Today, there are more than 30,000 parts in the average car and they are blend of mechanical, electrical, software and firmware.
Product requirements are no longer a one to one relationship, but a dizzying array of integrated cross-discipline processes and organizational relationships. And as these product requirements become increasingly integrated, so too must the requirements management systems that support them.
