Aras: Simple as Raspberry Pi

At ACE 2013, Aras Partner Razorleaf presented a special purpose Aras client using a Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized, single board computer that runs Linux.

This client is intended for the shop floor to view assembly instructions quickly and easily. All that's needed is a Raspberry Pi, bar code scanner, buttons, monitor and necessary wiring.

How does it work? Well, the assembly instructions are managed in Aras alongside all the product related data. This solution provides a light user interface specifically for delivering assembly instructions on the shop floor.

The user scans a barcode associated with a product and the instructions appear step-by-step on the screen. With the use of two buttons, the user can go forward and backward to view the required steps to assemble the product.

This solution allows even more users to benefit from Aras. In this instance, users are assured they have the most up-to-date assembly instructions, creating accurate products up to your company's quality standards.

Take a moment to think about how your workers on the shop floor are building products today. Are they using printed instructions? When were the instructions printed? Has something changed since then? With this solution those questions disappear. Workers on the shop floor will have the most up to date information at their fingertips.
