Aras Visual Collaboration with Embedded CAD to 3D PDF Converter in PLM Platform

At ACE 2013, we announced our new 3D PDF converter, the first ever CAD to 3D PDF converter embedded in a PLM vault server. Now, we're putting 3D, 2D, Microsoft Office, images and scans, and other data types in a single, powerful, open format: PDF, enabling users throughout the enterprise and across the supply chain to view all types of product data in a single common user interface without buying additional software.

The 3D PDF converter eliminates the need for specialized visualization formats that only handle 3D (like JT), require expensive licenses, and force content lock-in resulting in dead-ends. The converter utilizes the HOOPS technology from Tech Soft 3D for the conversion of all the major 3D formats including CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, NX, JT and STEP. The result is a highly accurate and compressed PDF for collaboration throughout the corporation and the supply chain.

Getting everything into a single open format enables a new level of visual collaboration and lays the foundation for our secure social strategy. Watch as Aras's John Sperling explains our visualization strategy, from the many benefits of the new 3D PDF converter, to why we chose the PDF format and where we're taking it in the future. You'll also get an understanding of our secure social strategy and what it can do for you.
