Reset Sequence No

i want to delete some data of itemtype  Part but when i delete Part the sequence no. associated with is removed hence i want to reset sequence no. for remaining data of Part item type how i reset it as i delete part having sequence no.  Part56, Part57 i want assign this no to other Part
