SUPPORT Q&A - IE9 supported?

Pat Madigan - Monday, April 11, 2011 12:55 PM:

Hi, I downloaded IE9 today and noticed that Aras doesn't work with that.  I guess I'll go back to IE8, but I wondered if there was any official statement about what browsers are supported, and when we might expect to see IE9 support.

thanks,

Pat Madigan

Hi Pat,

IE 9 Is targetted for support in release 9.3 which is due out to subscribers at the end of April. Shouldn't b e too long after that that we see it being released for the community.

Cheers,

Brian.

Thanks for the reply, Brian.

I rolled back to IE8, and Aras still doesn't work.  I get the infamous error message:

"Aras Innovator client has failed to initialize.
Please, contact your system administrator to review your .NET security settings."

I've reinstalled Aras a few times, looked for solutions here, read the docs, and still keep getting that error message.  I did all of the usual stuff, with the dot net framework and IIS settings, but no dice.  Lots of time wasted, and the corker is, all of this USED to work, until I loaded IE9!

If there are any solutions to the above error message, please post them here, I think that other people would like to know how to fix that (based on what I've read on other forum postings).

thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat,

There can be a number of reasons why you get this error message. The most common one seems to be not setting the Trusted Sites for the server URL.

In situations like this Aras reccommends cleaning the client machine and then trying to re-configure it again as the safest/most reliable method of fixing the problem.

Cleaning the client machine basically involves deleting temporary internet files and deleting the client assembly cache

Open IE. Select Tools | Internet Options | On the General tab select "Delete" under Browsing History when prompted select Delete all. Keep passwords if you want. Delete all files and settings stored by Add-ons.

Select "Settings" from the General tab under Browsing. Make sure "Every time I visit the web page" is selected.

To clear the Client Assembly Cache:

Assuming .Net 2.0 (or higher). Close all IE windows. Select Start" Microsoft .Net Framework SDK v2.0 -> SDK Command Prompt.

From the command prompt run: gacutil /cdl

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Brian.

You were right, these did the trick.  It seems that installing Internet Explorer wipes out those settings, though I don't know that I had them all set beforehand.  Thanks much!!
