When creating a new project from a project template and save the project, the timeline of the project does not show up.
The timeline shows properly in the template, and the template is active.
Please help.
Thank you.

Hello ARAS support,
I am in the process in convincing my management to utilize ARAS innovator, however, although I have been able to present the general change management, document control, etc, I have real issues in getting the gantt charts working.
When ever I create a project, I am not able to create WBS line items. I can create them in the project template, but not in the project itself. When using a template to create the project, I can also not see/edit the gantt chart.
Please help urgently.
Thank you.

The functions you describe are basic features of a project so I am unclear what the problem might be with your installation.
You should be able to create a new project from an APPROVED template (Lifecycle) and add WBS Activities to the project grid using the RMB or the toolbar buttons.
Make sure the user you are logged on as is a member of the Project Management Identity.
Also we have several videos available in the self study area that you can quickly review to make sure you are using the right steps to accomplish this task.

Thanks for the quick response Bob.
The template I am am using has the WBS acitvities included and is set to approved (otherwise I would not be able to select this template when creating a project); also I am defined as the project manager and I am in the Project Management Group.
However, I cannot see the WBS items in the project, although I successfully created them in the template. Also, I cannot create project plans in a new project, i.e. all WBS creation buttons are greyed out. (see attached picture). There is no error message when creating the project from the template.
Possible issue hint: When trying to schedule the project I get the following error:
The method "PM_call_server_side_schedule" failed.aras_object: "-2146232828" : "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."Client Side Error
Note: I also cannot see the WBS elements in projects created in the ARAS demo Dbase.....

I wasn't aware that this was a community project.
The demo database you have installed has customized the standard Program Mgt solution and appears to have an issue with new projects.
I can forward this information to the project owner but I would suggest using the standard solution out of the box if you are in a hurry - it has been tested and does not demonstrate these problems.

Locate the NASH tool and log on as the Aras user root. You can then pply the following patch which should correct the problem:
<
Item type="PM_ProjectGridLayout" action="delete" id="09DA3E9358A64129AB154760681512A3">

Thank you Bob,
I located the nash tool, but do not remember the root password... any hints?
Using the 'Innovator Admin' returns the following:
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="schemas.xmlsoap.org/.../faultcode><detail>Password to communicate with Innovator Server cannot be empty.</detail></SOAP-ENV:Fault></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
however, I did enter the password.
Thank you.

The standard password for the root user is innovator (lower case) in the demo database.
The message "Login complete for user: root." should appear after you press the Login button.
Select the ApplyItem action from the drop down and enter and submit each AML command listed above in the previous post.
tbwork - Tuesday, May 3, 2011 3:25 PM:
Bob,
I had to activate the root login for some reason (thread www.aras.comhttp:/.../rss.aspx helped).
After successful login, I pasted both patch lines into the XML field, selected action "ApplyItem", and received OK result.
When logging into the PLM and view a project, I now get the following error:
Error:332 Wrong columns initialization, bad column order:
deliv_review_cycles = 12
Should I have entered the patch lines separately? Can this now be fixed without re-installing the solution?
Thanks
Thomas
tbwork - Tuesday, May 3, 2011 3:32 PM:
Bob,
sorry, I believe it is now fixed .... I resubmitted both patch lines separately and restarted ARAS login to PLM.
Now it works.
Thank you very much for your support and patience.
