Hi everybody,
did anybody of you thought or even implemented a solution to track inventory of (Manufacturing) Parts?
I'm thinking about that for quite a while as I think Innovator is a good place to handle stock of Parts which are sourced and used in a product.
Besides getting current warehouse status(get stock quantity), a 'request' form to get Parts from stock (decrease stock quantity) would be needed as well as a way to 'add' Parts to the inventory after sourcing these Parts (increase stock quantity).
I cannot see a Community Project which handles that issue - or did I miss it?
Any comment or proposal is welcome.
Thanks Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Inventory management is normally an ERP activity and so many companies already have it taken care of in other systems.
There is no reason why you couldn't implement many of the ERP functions in Innovator it is just that it could be a very big job if you want to do it properly.
I have managed some low volume inventory tracking in Innovator for one client but haven't tried wholesale inventory management including the purchase orders to get the inventory into the system and the request forms you mention.
It would be an interesting challenge but not one that I would undertake without a really tight scope of work so that you knew exactly what you were implementing and how far you were going to take the functionality.
Cheers,
Brian.

With the rapid development of the society of mankind, many people feel rather strained by the quick pace of things around them. As a result, searching for ways to relax oneself has become a main trend and growing fast these years. The Fingers Shoes? is one of the newest creations introduced to the world and has been welcomed by people as the shoe is very comfortable and offers a great way to relax the soles of our feet. Besides this new creation, the other shoe brands are also trying to make their new shoes fit the tastes of the crowd. The Asics Running Shoes is the shoe made by the Japanese. Such shoes are received with warm arms especially in the Asian countries because the shoes suit the tastes of the Asians better than others. Of course, the Nike Shoes Online would not be disheartened. They have also been trying to combine Asian culture with the shoes they design. Supra Shoes UK is a pair of skateboarding shoes and is especially welcomed by the young, the active and playful young generation. North Face Canada are clothes that people from all age groups can fit in when they go on an outing in the fields, or in the forests.

Hi Brian,
thanks for the quick reply.
Indeed I am thinking about some 'low volume inventory': currently we have sourcing responsibility some just some dozen Parts, and we do stock these Parts at some of our teams or at some partner. So inventory management should include several possible stocks, but summing up to one 'warehouse stock'.
Forms and processes then are needed to interact, i.e. change the quantities of the stocks - rather then 'just updating by editing' numbers.
I know usually ERP does offer these processes, but we still don't have ERP in place, but track quantities of Parts we manage using Aras Innovator. So the idea to enhance our PLM towards that need is close, isn't it?
Any other ideas on that?
Thanks Stefan

Hi Stefan,
There is absolutely no reason you can't extend your PLM to cover that need.
I am a consultant with one of the Aras Partners (www.matrix.co.nz) and would be only to happy to help you develop a solution for this.
If you are interested in me having a look at developing a solution for you please drop me a line at [email protected]
Cheers,
Brian.
