Can I open by saying that I think the "Variants" package is absolutely brilliant, and is exactly what we were looking for as the make-or-break feature for using Aras.
Unfortunately we have hit a couple of problems, and would welcome some advice.
The first is also illustrated in the poackage documentation -- it looks like nobody noticed! If a Variant has two or more rows that are satisfied by the same rule/value pair, only the first one is added to the BoM. If you look at the documentation, page 11 shows the definition of part T-005-5008-V. According to the list, if the Engine Type is Electric, the BoM should contain both the Power Cord and the 8 Battery Packs. But on page 16 the final BoM has only the Power Cord. No Battery Packs. I actually hit the problem for myself first, and only then discovered that the documentation showed it too. There is a messy way round it, which is to define loads of extra Variants, each producing a single entry, but this rather goes against the spirit of not having an explosion of Part entries.
The second, coincidentally, also appears on page 11 of the documentation. Please, what is the magic key or incantation to insert a second rule against a single part? I've tried just about every esoteric combination of clicks, keys and key combinations, but I can't make it happen!
