DEVELOPERS FORUM - ARAS on cloud (Amazon EC2)

Suhas - Tuesday, June 7, 2011 5:11 AM:

Hi all,

I am from SteepGraph Systems pvt limited. I have launched one instance on amazon ec2 cloud. I have installed aras innovator over there. But whever I stop and then restarts the instance the license key gets expired. Although after replacing it by new license key it doesnt work. It is unable to login or it gives error as "Network related or instance specific error"

Please provide me the possible solution.

Hi Suhas,

Never had this issue.

Can you give us the screenshot or the exact error message you're getting?

I'll provide you with an access to our instance today.

Best Regards,

Yoann

Quick checks:

- can you make sure that your innovator file that contains the license key is still valid? (make sure you haven't deleted some "<" or">" when pasting the new license)

- How do you stop your instance?

My main idea is that it is not able to read your innovatorServerConfig file after you changed the license.

I have not done any changes except replacing the license key. Here u can check that.

I usually stop the instance by right click to the instance and clicking on stop.

Hello,

We use Amazon EC2 for running our Innovator server, but have never tried stopping and restarting without reinstalling Aras.  I can imagine all sorts of things going wrong, though because the MAC address, IP address, domain name, and machine name all change on the machine when you do that.

Are you getting a new license each time you start the machine?

Are there any other settings that may be specific to any of those variables above?

Looking at your config file, it looks like your database connection may be the culprit.  You have the following on you DBConnection line:

    server="IP-0AD66339SQLEXPRESS"

My guess is that "IP-0AD66339" is no longer the machine name.  Change that to the new machine name, and see if that fixes your issue.

Hi Shaun,

Thanks for ur help. My problem gets resolved. Previously I was just replacing the license key but not the server name i.e. "IP-0AD66339/SQLEXPRESS" .

After your suggestion I just changed the server name and Now everything works fine.

Again Thanks

Hi Shaun & Susha,

What if you mention (local) instead of the server name? I think that's what we have. I'll check that.

Hi Yoann,

Yes I have done the similar thing. I have replaced server name by localhost and Now I have no need to replace the server name again and again.
