How does one go about creating custom applications for Innovator? I don't see any reference to Development Toolkits or Programming References - Are there any? Maybe there is already something that will do what I am thinking - i.e allow me to update the status of a specific task from an external program. Pointers?

Have you looked at the Documentation on the Aras site: http://www.aras.com/support/documentation/
Specifically the Programmers Reference.
There is a lot of information in here.
Have a look and see if you have any specific questions.
