I want external application to trigger the event in ARAS innovator. How can we achieve this? Can web services be useful in this? If yes, how they can be used in this case?

Study AML.. whether you use an IOM dll (COM or .net integration), or just pass AML messages through webservices, the event model is in full effect, assuming you don't do things through SQL.
