SUPPORT Q&A - .net security error

dkauffman - Thursday, September 22, 2011 2:37 PM:

I have followed everything to a T and this still does not work.  I have tried this with my account and with local admin account and get same error every time.

Hi Dkauffman,

The error message indicates you do not have the rights to make the changes to the .Net security permissions you are attempting to make.  This is not an error with the Aras software, but rather a need for Administrator level permissions on the machine you are attempting to make changes to.  Please either login as an administrator or contact your system administrator for assistance.

Best,
Jennifer

I understand that, but I am the system administrator and both account I try have local admin and I have tried with the local admin acct.  Still I receive this error everytime.

I actually got this working on a different client.  My initial client was a Windows 7 machine and I kept getting that error no matter what user I tried (my domain admin or local admin).  I then tried it on a XP machine and everything worked great.

Do you know of anything about this and Windows 7 not working or another tool to set .NET?

Thanks,

Derek

Hi Derek,

Windows 7 is a little annoying in that even when you have local Admin or are straight up an Administrator is still doesn't automatically run applications under the Admin priviledges.

You will get that error when you just run the SDNS.exe by double clicking.

You need to right click and "Run as Administrator"

Then you should find it works.

Cheers,

Brian.
