I am new to Innovator (started with 9.3)
I want to automatically assign partnr to a new part.
From a post in 2009 (which is nota available anymore) I understand that one has to modify a property Item_Number in the ItemType Part.
However, If I list all itemtypes there is no Itemtype Part.
I have experimented with creating a ItemType Part, but I did not get anything working.
I hope somebody can help.

Not sure if this is the issue, but when you install Innovator you have the choice between 'Core' and 'Solutions' (I think that is right.) 'Core' is just the core set of item types, whereas 'Solutions' adds additional item types for things like Product Engineering and Program Management. I am not sure if 'Part' item type is included in core, but maybe that is what happened. This is just a guess thought and only meant to give you something else to look at.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply.
In the mean time I found the solution/explanation.
When one lists ALL ItemTypes, without knowing one gets the result of a select, so only a subset.
When one queries the ItemType table wih "Part" the Part ItenType shows. Then one can linkt the keyed_name property to a sequence which you should have defined earlier. Quite easy, as soon as you know the trick.
Thanks anyway for your time.

Glad you were able to figure it out. 'Part' is probably part of the 'Core' install, but it was all I could think of and just wanted you to eliminate that as an issue. Anyway, sounds like you have this one sorted out.

Actually Part is part of the Solutions install not the Core.
And when you list ALL Item Types you get them all back they just go over several pages so you have to use the "next" and "previous" icons on the Search Grid toolbar. So Part was there it just wasn't on the first page.
Brian.
