SUPPORT Q&A - Adding Legacy ECNs to Innovator

spolen - Wednesday, October 31, 2007 9:57 AM:

Hi,

I am in the process of adding all of our product data into Innovator, and would like to add the Legacy ECN's for History and Traceability, but have not been able to find a way to add these pdf files.  I realize that any ECN's created in Innovater would be accessible in the "Changes" tab under the Part, but for the life of me, can't find a way to import a file to this tab.

Does anyone know of a way that I can resolve this issue?

Thanks,

Sue

Hello Sue.

I'm just trying to understand what you want to do.
You have some legacy pdf files. And you want to add these files to Innovator to be accessible in the Changes tab on some Parts.
Do you want to add a file or parse a content of the file somehow and make the content available in the Changes tab ?

Is my understanding correct ? Could you please clarify the problem ?

Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, I am trying to add the legacy data to the Changes tab so I have a history on certain parts that have been revised, and want to retain the ECNs that are in PDF format.  So to answer your question, I would like to add the file somehow, but have been unable to do so.

Appreciate your help if you can!

 Sue

On the part of Innovator, the Tcl script kmtools.tcl enables the use of SCCI. Engineering actions
for import and export of Innovator objects can be defined here.

Hi Sue,

A work-around is to convert the pdf files and adding them to the working directory.

Or you may install the add-on to Innovator to handle the pdf files.

Let me know if this helps....([email protected]

Thank you for the info.  I added them to my working directory and was able to add to the changes tab for a history for each document.

 Appreciate your help!
