SUPPORT Q&A - Login Failed for user 'innovator' during database creation

semtex65 - Tuesday, March 27, 2012 6:54 AM:

Afternoon guys,

As the title would suggest, I'm having issues installing, at the point of creating a new database. The relevant SQL server instance is visible when I browse for the database server. DBA Login options are set to 'Windows authentication credentials of current user', which appears to work fine when I click connect.

At that point, in Database Login Options I type a password for the innovator login ID. Following that, I fill in the database name under database options and hit 'Configure Database'

At that point I get the dialogue: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'innovator'.

I will say that I'm completely new to SQL, and Innovator, but believe I have followed the instructions to the letter, yet can't get past this.

System conists of:

Server 2008 R2

.NET 3.5

SQL Express 2008R2

Any help or pointers would be much much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The Innovator user is created during your very first install. Make sure you type the same password that you typed the very first time you tried (even though it may have failed the first time, because Aras install creates the User first with SQL admin login and then tries to connect to SQL with the newly created login).

Sometimes if you can't get further, it can be good to delete the Aras user from SQL.

Hope it helps a little bit.
