DEVELOPERS FORUM - Can't add properties to the Parent Class

Nishant Kapoor - Monday, July 23, 2012 2:13 AM:

Hi Everyone,

I have been following the Page 43 of "Online Help: Application Framework" using v 9.3.0, bulid 5663. While assigning the properties to the class structure (in Class Path field) I'm not able to select the Parent class. Its getting displayed in Italics, while in the document its mention that you can assign the properties to the parent class. Is there any change in this version of Aras Innovator or is there any known bug?? Please help...

Thanks

Nishant Kapoor

Dear Nishant,

You can't (or need not to ) add property to the root(not Parent) Item .

for example, see below picture of Document Classification.

When you are adding property to "Document" Item type it automatically becomes part of 'Document' (root node) class.

when you want to specify new property say 'Prop1' at 'test1' class,  then select classpath field till the 'test1' in  of that property .

when you want to add new property say 'prop2' and it should be visible in both class 'test1' and 'test2' then specify class path for property 'prop2' till the 'SGS'.

Ultimatly, when you are creating a new property, by default it will become part of the root class.

Hope, I have clear your doubt.

Thanks,

Pinak
