SUPPORT Q&A - IE configuration yet again

StuartP - Thursday, July 26, 2012 11:31 AM:

Hi,

I am trying to set up a new client to use our Aras server but am failing miserably.

The client is running win7 Ultimate 64bit SP1  and using IE 9.0.8112.16421

I have been through the IE configuration meticulously and have even compared it all line by line with

a second client that is able to connect and run with our server (this client has Win7 Professional SP! though)

The .NET settings were successful and are the same as the second client. They both have .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (v 4.0.30319) installed but the Ultimate also has .NET Framework 4 Extended installed.

All I am receiving is the infamous "Aras innovator client has failed to initialize. Please contact...."

error which indicates (from my reading in these forums) that .NET is not installed - but it is.

I even tried installing the older .NET 2 framework but the OS doesn't allow this as it says it is already integrated.

Has anyone got any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

IE 64 bit is not supported at this time.  Please switch your IE to 32 bit and try to access again.

Also, any installations not running service pack 2 should be utilizing IE 9 in compatibility mode.

Best,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks. This has got me past the initial error. Now I see the ActiveX script loading

but then the login screen just displays a yellow warning triangle with an exclamation

mark in it and nothing else as shown below

Hi Stuart,

Check to make sure you have .Net 3.5 SP1, MSXML 4 SP3, and double check your IE settings.  Please also make sure that you have added the URL to the compatibility view list as well as the trusted sites list for IE9.

Best,

Jennifer

Hi Shantha,

Looks like everything is in order. My suggestion would be to review the tutorial video. Most people who appear to have everything right but are still stuck make it past by reviewing the video. Let me know if this works for you too.

Best,

Jennifer
