There are a lot of posts with this error and I think I've tried all of the solutions available to me. I'm running Windows 7 Pro x32 and IE8. I ran the SDNS tool from my desktop as an administrator. I got this log:
[========================================================]
Setting security for .NET 2.0 ...

WARNING: It seems like a group with the membership URL similar to

Added union code group with "-url" membership condition to the Machine level.

Per other forum entries, I've downloaded and run MSXML 4.0 SP3. My Microsoft.NetFramework directory has entries for v1.0.3705, v1.14322, v2.0.50727, v3.0, and v3.5.
I've added 161.242.85.11/.../ to my list of trusted sites and enabled everything that I have access to change in the custom configurations. Is there a list of what specific options need to be checked?
Any other tips/tricks/ideas would be appreciated. Also, I'd like to run the .Net config utility shown in the .NET configuration file on the support page. What is the executable name and if it's not part of the standard 2.0 install anymore can I get it separately?
thanks,
Ron CK

Can you check 2 things?
1) Are you opening Innovator from the 32-BIT IE? (Start-->All Programs-->Internet Explorer)
2) Do you have .NET 4.5 installed?

Hi Ron, were you able to resolve your issue? If yes, can you please share the solution. I am facing the same issue. I also tried lot of things but nothing works. I see that the security entry is there in the security.config file same as what it should be.

Hi Andy,
I'm definitely using IE8 32-bit. I do not have .NET 4.5. I'm still using the Windows 7 default of .NET 3.5.1 with the latest patches. Should I update?
thanks,
Ron CK

I'm sorry but no. After my last bump no one responded on forum or off forum and other projects here took precedence. We tried a total of 5 PCs and were able to connect to the Aras server on only 2. This is despite carefully making sure everything we could find on other posts matched between the PCs that worked and the PCs that didn't. This seems to be a pretty significant issue and has actually made the PLM decision maker here question whether Aras is the way to go or not. Our current plan is to get an Aras partner on site later this year to setup a demo database for us to work with. If they are able to correct the error, I'll post it here, if not we'll end up going with a different PLM system.
Best regards,
Ron
