SOLUTION - PROGRAM MANAGEMENT - Sub Assembly Revision Control

jsnosal - Wednesday, February 20, 2013 3:27 PM:

We are looking at how to handle prototypes within ARAS. Currently if I rev a sub-assembly it shows its in a preliminary state. Therefore if manufacturing pulls a BOM it will show the product is reved and in a preliminary state, instead of showing the released production version. Is there a way to lock down the state with the relationship or is the only solution to supersede the assembly? Thank you

Hi Jsnosal,

On the main search grid there is the "Effectivity" dropdown box on the right hand side of the search menu.

Using this you can show only the "Released" versions of an item rather than the "Current" version (the default).

This lets you change the information presented to the user without doing anything else to the data.

Otherwise you can change the "owned_by_id" (Manager) of the Part when you are reviing it so that only Design/Engineering groups can see the design data and the Production group continues to see only released items. I think you would still have to change the Effectivity dropdown on the search grids.

Hope this helps,

Brian.
