This may have been answered before somewhere, but my searches of the forum have come up with nothing, so here goes: I am in Version 8.1, and when I create a document, and get to the point of adding a file to the document the frame where the file should appear just lists "Loading File...." and even though I wait for a considerable time to allow for a download it never appears. But when I hit the 'Save, Unlock,Close' icon, it comes back with the successly saved message and the file is in the vault, but I cannot get to display or lauch the appropriate program to display it. If I pick on a pdf file it does work ok. But .doc, .txt, files don't display. This has to be some setting I suspect in IE, but for the life of me I cannot get the proper set.

It happens in the adding a file in the document itemtype, and when you select the file it immediately goes to this frame but doesn't display the file. But if one gets out of the frame, and does a save,unllock and close on the document, the file gets vaulted properly, But then going back to view the file, I get the same Loading File.... but the file doesn't display.Martin - Friday, May 30, 2008 10:09 AM:

I face excatly the same problem. I've added some test documents together with some linked file of several filetypes (pdf, txt, doc etc.).
When you choose "view file" from the context menu you can only open pdf and txt files so far (apparently because of the built in browser add on), with all other file types have been blocked for security settings. In the browser settings I've set everything to lowest security level, I have no idea which browser settings are needed...
I had expectet something like download file to location and choose application to open it, perhaps I'v not understand the concept of viewing files.
I even tried to assign a viewer to the file type, if I choose the "helper application of the browser" nothing happens. The provided HTML pages by aras for the viewers apparently query for the file URL in the vault and then try to download the file.
Maybe somebody can explain me the idea of viewing files or maybe I have to change some settings, or maybe I just to stup.. :-)
Any idea is welcome

P.S.: I have uploaded a tiff image but the built in tiff viewer shows always the message "Can't load file, the module is no component or has wrong interface"... wrong tiff format??

Well, it is an unusual behavior, so let me start with some basics.
1) "What does 'Loaging File...' mean?" - The File Form shows the "Loading File..." message when the file is associated with a known mime type, and can be sent to the client. If the file cannot be sent to the client automatically, then the window will prompt you to download from the menu instead of showing "Loading File..." Since it doesn't load, that indicates that the server tried to pass the file, but the client did not load it automatically.
2) "Why does my Text(.txt) file not load?" - My answer has to start with a question, did you follow the recommended settings for Internet Explorer? (http://www.aras.com/support/documentation/documentation.aspx) Second, does the File Item have the correct File Type associated with it?
3) "Why does my Word Document(.doc) file not load?" - Again, did you follow the recommended settings for Internet Explorer? (http://www.aras.com/support/documentation/documentation.aspx) Second, what version of Office are you using? (No, I don't think that is makes a difference, but better to ask now.) Third, does the File Item have the correct File Type associated with it?
3) TIFF files - This type of file has special considerations, and I request you file it under a different thread if you need help with it.

first, the IE settings are set per the instructions; everything checked that should be, and unchecked when it shouldn't. (I rechecked this 3 times to make sure.)
Second, the file type for the file item...yes, I have programs assoiciated with the file types (extensions) and everywhere else in my Windows environment pulls up the right applicaiton to open these files (.doc's , .txt, .pdf, .tif, .jpg, etc.) Now in terms of the Innovator set up, I did not change anything in the File types except to add an entry for TEXT files with extensions of .txt, .ini, .csv and put a Mime-type entry of 'text/plain' for this tyring to get a .txt file to display. Everything else in File Types is stock from the Innovator load.
What version of Microsoft Office? 1) on this machine I use Open Office 2.4; On another machine I have Office 2003. It shows the same behavior, but I discovered in retesting this there is an error meesage icon in lower left corner of frame. The message, on clicking it, shows the error message:

There was no TEXT type....no entry that had an extension of .txt set up...so I added one. Result is only one entry in File types that points to an extension of .txt.
