SUPPORT Q&A - Aras Innovator client has failed to initialize

eldadc - Thursday, May 30, 2013 2:59 PM:

I know that this type of an error has been discussed several times in the past, the last one I believe was 2009.

This is a .NET security setting issue, I have tried everything I read for the past two days and apparently I am missing something. I can start the Innovator on the server with no problem, so I think it's a client issue. I am running Win 7 pro on a 64 bit and explorer 8 (256-bit).

Any help I can get is appreciated.

Hi Eldad,

There are a few simple causes for this error:

Ensure the SDNS.exe is run from a local directory not a network directory.
Run SDNS.exe as administrator.
Double check that the URL being put into the Trusted Sites is the same as the URL being put into SDNS. You'd be surprised how often a simple cut/paste between the two fixes this.
Check that you are running IE 8 32bit. Go to start, select All Programs - You will see IE 64bit and IE. Make sure you are running IE and not IE 64bit.

That should be it.

There may be other logon issues but these are the ones that cause the Failed to Initialize error screen.

Hope this helps,

Brian.

Thanks Brian, I have re-checked everything you have listed (several times), I have upgraded to IE 9 but made sure I use the 32bit. Still getting the same error!

I have tried last night from home on my desktop, got to a different stage - another browser window opens but it stays blank. I don't know if this is better, need to understand why.

Any other suggestions?
