SUPPORT Q&A - Vendors and part price

Maxo - Tuesday, February 11, 2014 4:43 AM:

I have multiple vendors for the same part which offer different prices.

To me, it would thus be more logically to add the part price in the Vendor item than in the part item.

If I add the price to the part, then I have no where to differentiate between the vendors.

How do other people handle this issue?

Am I the only one with this issue?

I think it would typically be handled with a relationship between part and vendor and the price being set on the relationship. Or take a look at the Manufacturer Part itemtype (TOC: SourcingManufacturing Parts). Using this approach, create a mfg part for each vendor/manufacturer, set the price on the manufacturer part, and then use the Part's AML tab to relate the Manufacturer Parts to the Part.

We have done something similar to Dennis's first solution:

Added Vendor-Part relationship and Price field on the relationship. And a no related relationship to the Part to display all the Vendors along with prices. The result looks like, on Part item:

:

This may not be the standard solution but this made our purchasing guys task little easier!
