APPLICATION - PRODUCT ENGINEERING - URL for adding a new Item of ItemType

DSMStefanRohde - Wednesday, April 9, 2014 2:14 AM:

Hey Guys,

i know there is a URL for direct item access from a link.

The format is http://[server]/[innovator]/Client/default.aspx?StartItem=[itemtype]:[id]

Is there any way to reform this link to creeate a new Item of ItemType [itemtype] instead of just opening an existing item?

Regards

I'm a new PM trying to address open forum posts...

Regarding your question.  I'm not sure I understand.  Are you trying to create a new item type or find the shortcut to access an item types grid?

Pls advise.

Hi David,

thank you for your reply.

I'm trying to create a new Item (Instance of Itemtype xy) via direct url. Not view an existing item like mentioned in the original post, but click an url and go directly to the create new dialog (as if i clicked on "Create New").

Regards

Stefan

Stefan

Based on my tests on my local install - the URL for the is a large hexadecimal string which is unique to my instance.

I also followed up with the support team and they verified my understanding.

To verify you and I are on the same page I snapped a shot of my screen and highlighted the "process" you would like to bypass in favor of a direct link.  Let me know if this is accurate.

Not sure the OOTB Innovator can get you what you want (but I am new and still digging in).  However, if your use case necessitates this functionality you may be able to create a customization.

Hope this sheds some light.

Side note - Id like to know how you are using Aras and your overall thoughts.  I'm going to start a new post to the community on this topic - please feel free to add your thoughts.
