COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS - Thumbnail images

Ron - Friday, August 8, 2008 9:04 AM:

I followed Rolf's document version 2 for 'How to add Thumbnails to Par Form' but I am still not able to get the thumbnail images to show up. On page three of the document ;

Adding Fields to the Item’s Form

The 2 item properties are mapped to form field on the Part form:

- Thumb Nail File: of type “File Item”

- Thumb_nail_vault_url: of type “Text”, display length 1

I believe this is from version 1 and does not apply?

I have the fields on the form and the two methods created and setup on the part itemtype and the form, I am able to pick the image, and when saved the thumbnail file name and thumbnail id are added tot he associated fields. When the part is saved closed and unlocked then re opened I get nothing all information about the image are gone.

Looking at the method 'Thumbnail Handler' I see reference to properties called thumbnaillink and thumbnailimage, but I am not sure how these are referenced.

Does anyone have this working on 8.2?

Thanks

Ron

Hi Ron -

The description probably isn't completely clear on this point, but the importable package completely supersedes the Word document.  You should use the instructions for adapting the importable package (in the project description), not the document.  If I'm reading your message right, I think the problem you're reporting is that the thumbnail_name and thumbnail_id properties are not being populated.  Is this right?  Does the image itself appear?  If it does, then it is working as designed.  The other properties should be hidden.  Setting and clearing the image should happen only by clicking on the image box and the "Clear" link.

The thumbnaillink and thumbnailimage references you saw point to elements within the HTML field.  Look for id="thumbnailImage" inside the HTML code of the thumbnail field.

Hi Rob

 Thanks for the reply, I checked the project folder and found the import package (did not see it last week). I originally created from the word doc. As it turned out I was missing one little "}" at the end of the code for Thumbnail Handler method, once I corrected this it now works great.
