Hello all,
Yesterday i began evaluation of new version of Innovator that published on site. Following configuration:
Server:
- Win Server 2008
- SQL Server 2005 (Express)
Client:
- Win XP Sp3
- IE 6, 7 and 8
When using IE6 and IE7 basic functions are working as expected. But with IE8 (the newest version available on Microsoft website) basic function are failed. Basic functions i mean:
- menus that not loading (refresh of the page can help)
- when open Profile card of some item for read or edit is stuck the popup window and after couple sec the main window is stuck too.
- loose focus on popup window and go back to popup i can see that status bar and menus are loaded but other content is not loaded
All ActiveX settings set as written in Installation guide. I even set more permitions than written in the guide.
I tried this tests on two different computers (XP SP3 both computers). Is there a chance that i can make IE8 to work with 9.1.0

Aras Innovator does not support Internet Explorer 8, at this time.
We are looking into the issues and plan to add support for Internet Explorer 8.

I am surprised that this is still not working properly. If you supported open standards and browsers such as Firefox this would not be nearly such an issue. AJAX pages in Firefox behave much better than platform specific ActiveX controlled IE plugin based pages. Just look at the mess Taiwan got in over their banking ActiveX controls when microsoft started messing with ActiveX.
In any case, we cannot even begin to investigate using this if it will not work with the current releases of MS OS and Browser. Windows 7 is RTM and most of our IT related workstations are Windows 7 already. We'd have to run a VM just to get IE7 just to use the tool. None of our systems running XP are still on IE7 either. It's a buggy, security hole ridden browser and we jumped off it immediately. Even our SAP based IE specific pages built for IE6 work in IE8. Why doesn't this?

Bugger! I just yesterday upgraded to IE8, but haven't get Aras 9 working yet with IE7....

It's been six months and nothing has been completed on this yet? You do realize that not supporting a very common platform a perspective customer would likely be running is not good for business right?

Has anyone tried accessing Innovator via IE8 in "Compatibility View"? According to the Microsoft web site:
"Internet Explorer 8 is a new release and some websites may not yet be ready for Internet Explorer 8. Click the Compatibility View toolbar button to display the website as viewed in Internet Explorer 7. This option is on a per site basis and all other sites will continue to display with Internet Explorer 8 functionality"

Any news on this.
I am evaluating this for use at my current company, but if it doesnt work on IE8 it wont get very far.
Any timescales?? ANYTHING???
zaharc - Monday, April 27, 2009 3:58 PM:
Compatibility View - is not working too. As i remember i set IE8 to run all site as Compatibility mode
vinay - Tuesday, October 13, 2009 9:27 AM:
I have tried the compatibility view the screens are displayed better however the adding a new user hangs the system. This seems to be an issue.

Aras Innovator 9.1.0 supports IE8 as of Service Pack 5 (released in October for subscribers). The next public release, slated for early 2010, will also support IE8. There are no significant differences between Aras Innovator on IE7 and IE8, so any evaluation done on IE7 will be valid with IE8.

As stated in that post, Aras works well with the IE Tab add-on for Firefox with IE8 installed.
FoxyXI - Friday, May 15, 2009 3:42 PM:
Is there an expected date for a release that supports IE8? Thanks.
rogersia - Friday, December 4, 2009 12:05 PM:
If it works then there seems to be no difference although at the moment it only works about 1% of the time on ie8
It is much slower on IE8
At the moment I dont have SP5.
FoxyXI - Monday, July 13, 2009 11:13 AM:
Has anyone made any progress with IE8 and Aras?
How are other people addressing this, just by not upgrading Internet Explorer?
nomean - Friday, July 17, 2009 10:10 AM:
Is there any new information on this? Many users here have already upgraded to IE8 which has stopped our testing of Aras. Unfortunately I don't have any control over what they install.
