DEVELOPERS FORUM - Directly viewing Vault contents

Brian - Thursday, April 30, 2009 6:26 PM:

Hi All,

I believe I have read in the help somewhere that I can access (as read only) vaulted files directly from the Browser without going through Innovator, though I can't find the reference again.

My notes indicate that we should be able to do this by entering the vault URL in the browser.

When I put myServer/.../vaultserver.aspx in the browser I get the following error

If I put the database name in I get a similar message telling me that the file name is not specified.

My question is. Can I, easily, set up direct access to vaulted files via the browser without knowing what is in the vault beforehand or is accessing through the Innovator interface the best/recommended process?

Thanks,

Brian.

URL example is below:
myServer/.../vaultserver.aspx

Note that fileID parameter value corresponds to File.ID database column values.
You can generate the url in following easy way.
Login as admin. Select AdministrationFiles in TOC. Items grid is filled by File instances. Select a row in the grid, click Main MenuFileOpen. Browser new window is opened with the generated url.
