SUPPORT Q&A - Minimal evaluation installation

jmatthew - Monday, June 1, 2009 10:49 AM:

I'd like to install Innovator for evaluation purposes, using a single Vista or XP machine as both server and client.  I have the installation guide but haven't had much success so far.  Are there any basic instructions for a simple installation/setup?

I have same system as you, but do not have any lock with regards to the installation. Actually the innovator database has installed successfully, but any attempt to connect to the database has failed. In the configure database dialog of the Aras install shield wizard the connect buttons results in connection fail (ODBC). Continuing the installation results in creation of the database, but the innovator login window fails to connect.

If you have solved the problem I would like to know

Erik,

No, I did not solve the problem.  I eventually gave up because of lack of time and because my company is leaning toward a PTC product for its PLM needs.  We currently use PTC's Pro/ENGINEER and Intralink and some think that moving to a non-PTC product is not a good idea.

Good luck with your installation.
