Do you have the .NET framework installed on this client machine?
If not, here is the URL to the .NET 2.0 framework.
Bill - Friday, March 9, 2007 7:10 PM:
Sorry, my mistake.
This error message is shown because you attempted to run the file without downloading it first.
You need to download the file (sdns.exe) to your local hard drive before running it.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your responses. I think that there is misunderstanding in what is going on. This error occured during the downloading of sdns.exe file, so I was not even at the running stage. Your help is very much appreciated.

Bill - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 12:09 AM:
What is the OS of the client?
What versions of .NET did you install?
-Bill
kate - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 2:10 AM:
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
IE: 6.0 SP3
At first the client had .Net framwork 1.1?2.0?3.5, but we setup sdns.exe occur error as provious post mention,
After check IE setup and install steps is follow documents , we thought the error maybe is .Net framwork 3.5 to cause..
so we un-install all .Net framwork 1.1?2.0?3.5 , and only install .Net framwork 2.0 to the client , but the error is the same..
Now .NET version : 2.0
Bill - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 4:49 PM:
So, you did the following?
1) Download the sdns.exe to your local hard drive. (Lets say the root of your C: drive, for example C:sdns.exe)
2) You open "My Computer" and browse to this folder (C:)
3) You double-click on the file to run the executable
--> Error appears.
Bill - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 7:32 PM:
One other question:
What Language is your XP running in?
-Bill
kate - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 8:39 PM:
yes,our steps just as you write..
Error occur in step3.
XP Language: Traditional Chinese Big5.
Bill - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 11:45 PM:
Well, I don't recognize the error specifically, but let me take you down all logical paths:
1) Please confirm that you have .NET 2.0 installed on the client XP Machine
2) The error message you posted earlier says that sdns.exe is being executed from the D: drive, and .NET is installed on the C: drive. Please move the tool to the C: drive and try executing from there.
3) Try downloading a fresh copy of the tool.
4) Try executing a repair on .NET from Add/Remove Programs
