Hi Jeremy -
The easiest way to do this is through delegation. If your workflow activity allows delegation, simply vote to delegate to a specific user. When that person has finished, he/she can simply delegate it back to you. There are other (more involved) means to do ad-hoc workflows, so let me know if delegation is not sufficient for your case.
