SUPPORT Q&A - Question about ARAS Security (SSL, .NET)

Good day,

Is it possible to have ARAS Innovator server use an SSL port 443 instead of the normal http port?

I want to have a hosted setup, and I would like to make sure that the server is secured. I'd like to use SSL to conect to it.

public_hosted_server/innovatorserver

instead of http://.../inovatorserevr

Also, What is tyhe utility of runnin the ndns.exe tool (.netframework) Is it for security?

1) Yes, you absolutely can use HTTPS with Aras Innovator. You will just need to adjust the URL used in the VaultServerConfig.xml file found in the root of the install.

2) The sdns.exe tool sets the .NET Security Policy on the client PC. This tool is provided for situations where you are working with a test server, or when you do not have your .NET security polices managed by IT. For production deployments I recommend following the guidelines for setting up the .NET security policy, and then pushing that policy out via Active Directory deployment.

Hi Bill,

I configured the IIS server to access on 443 port.

I also setup the client to access using the https://.../innovatorserver

I get the Login page when I access it, but after putting up my login details, it responds nothing. It not even give me login error or not even logs into ARAS innovator. It just stays on the login window.

When SSL in removed i.e. if I access though http on port 80 all works fine.

Can you please help me on this?

I've tried to use this way but I have problem with .NET client settings. I've got message "couldn't initialize client, check your .NET configuration",the same if you forgot to use SDNS, but I've used it and set address servername/InnovatorServer.

Could you, please, help me with this settings?

Did you use a self signed certificate? If yes, than that might be the problem.
