SOLUTION - PROGRAM MANAGEMENT - Project Plan Start Date & Finish Date

krish80 - Tuesday, February 2, 2010 10:46 PM:

Hi,
I have created one PROJECT like below structure.
Testing Product

·         Phase1 (WBS) : Designing

      Requirement Gathering (Activity)-1

             Leader                   : RK

             Plan Start Date    :  02/03/2010

             Plan Finish Date  :  02/24/2010

             Duration               :  16

     Requirement Analyzing (Activity)-2

             Predecessor         : 1

             Leader                   : CHO

             Plan Start Date    :  02/25/2010

             Plan Finish Date  :  02/25/2010

             Duration               :  1

     Conclusion (Milestone)-1

·         Phase2             : Drafting

Question:
If the Activity1 [Requirement Gathering] completed on the starting date itself {02/03/2010 itself}, Will Activity2 [Requirement Analyzing] automatically assign the work to Leader CHO In Basket or the Activity2 will wait for plan start date of {02/25/2010}.
Thanks & Regards,
RK

My testing shows that Activity2 will wait for plan start date before it's status becomes active, it will stay as pending until the plan start date arrives. It will not let you complete pendiog activities. Is there a way to change this behavoir. If Task1 is a predecessor to Task2 and Task 1 is completed early, then Task2 should show up in the Inbasket immediately. It is difficult to demo APQP functionality when the activities do not show up until then planned start data arrives.

correction..., you can complete activities in the Pending state.
