SOLUTION - PROGRAM MANAGEMENT - How to use sequence to generate part numbers automatically

Hi,

I want to use the sequences feature to generate a new part number according to some convention.I have created a new sequence with prefix,suffix and other stuff, but couldn't figure out how to link it with Part. Can any one tell me how to link it with the part so that a part number is automatically generated when I create a new Part.

When defining your itemtype properties. Create a property with the data-type "sequence" then you can select your own sequence

I am using 9.3.

If I list ItemTypes there is no ItemType Part.

Can I just create one ? How do I tell aras to use this ItemType Part for Parts ?

Did you download and install the Core and Solutions or just the Core database?

To get Parts and all the other "Solutions" Items types you need to install the Core and Solutions when you are installing Innovator.

YOu can also restore a new database from the CoreAndSolutions backup.
